The Stepdaughters star Joyce Ching has graduated from Meridian International College with a Bachelor's Degree in Film.
On Facebook, she wrote a lengthy post on how she managed to juggle work and studies, thanks to her faith in God.
Joyce recounted, "I guess all I can talk about is God’s faithfulness. It has been 4 years of working and studying. It wasn’t easy, there were a lot of sacrifices (especially with sleep), a lot of decision-making (sleep or eat, work or go to school) but God was just really faithful in giving me strength, provision, and time for everything.
"This is also a proof of how sovereign God is and how everything is under His power and control. When I thought I had no more energy, I had no time to review, no time to shoot (for school and for work), no time to finish all my requirements, everything just happened. Everything was provided for me. And all I had to do was trust Him and not worry about anything."
Joyce became torn between working and studying but she then prioritized her studies.
"In my last [semester] in school, I had to super overload (yes, super overload) with my subjects so that I could finish with my batch mates. I had to go to school from Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday) so I could finish all my requirements and graduate. Before I enrolled, I was really praying and asking God if I should do it. Because if I did, it was impossible for me to get a teleserye because tapings usually happen M-W-F. But I just really felt that God wants me to finish college, it was His plan for me," she shared.
For the 23-year-old actress, prayer became her weapon that helped her get through all those negative thoughts and doubts that bombarded her. She wrote, "Lord, Monday-Saturday 'to, hindi ko talaga kaya mag-teleserye, ikaw na bahala sa schedule ko. Basta Lord, hindi ko talaga kaya at hindi ko kakayanin if magkakaroon ako ng show, either tatapusin ko 'to, or masasayang pag-enroll ko."
She continued, "But I still enrolled. I wasn’t getting any calls for a show or a teleserye. All I had for [the] last 4 months were a few guestings and mall shows (Paubos na ang savings mga mumsh!) But it was okay. Hindi naman kailangang sobra-sobra para masabing blessed ka at nagprovide si Lord for you. It was enough for us to survive and for me to pay for my school fees. I already conditioned myself and I told God that I would only start asking Him for a show when I’m already done with school. Because I want to finish dahil sayang ang tuition fee, hello? "
Amid all her worries, the Kapuso sweetheart recalled how perfect God's timing is.
"But since God is God and everything is well-planned, right after I presented my last presentation for my last class as a film student, (as in no joke, right after ko talaga magpresent, mga 3 seconds lang ang pagitan, ganu'n) my manager messaged me and called me saying I already have a show and I already have a schedule the following week. TOTOO BA LORD?! HINDI PA NGA AKO NAKAKAPAGDASAL AT HINDI KO PA NGA NAIISIP NA MAGSIMULA MAGDASAL PERO BINIGAY MO NA?! PALABAN!
"But anyway, I just really wanted to share how amazing God is and how He has planned everything for all of us. Amazed na amazed na amazed talaga ako! Hindi ka ba na-amaze? Sobrang funny ni Lord!! There sometimes would be closed doors for certain opportunities, but that’s only because it’s all part of the journey He’s taking us in. We just really have to trust Him, His process and let Him lead the way and do ourselves a favor and not worry or stress out on the things we shouldn’t be worrying about," she said.
At the end of the post, Joyce invited her fans to watch The Stepdaughters.
"If inabot niyo pa ang part na 'to, manood na din kayo ng The Stepdaughters, Monday-Friday, 3:20 p.m. sa GMA. 'Yun 'yung show ko," she concluded.
