My Husband’s Lover Pilot Episode Review

With the new soap “My Husband’s Lover”, GMA Network promised a breath of fresh air; something new, relevant and profound. The kapuso network also promised that with the collective breath the audience will take as they surface from the ocean of sibling-rivals-turn-good-friends story lines will come a burning match ready to ignite heated discussions about the complexity of human emotions.

Last night, the pilot episode of the very first gay-themed series on Philippine TV aired and lit the flame. And what a flame it was! Fans raved and tweeted blow-by-blow accounts as the program ran. The Twitter hashtag #MyHubandsLoverPilot flew by as comment after comment, from cinematography to acting, to the script, the positive reviews flowed in.

Audience members were struck by the technique applied by the program’s script writer, cinematographers and music directors:

Despite the sensitivity of the theme, many netizens welcomed the gay angle taken by the soap:

While the main crowd magnet of My Husband’s Lover is the unconventional “bromance” between the show’s two lead male stars Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez, much of the story revolves around the importance of family, friendship, integrity and love -- the elements that make us human.

More and more viewers await as My Husband’s Lover airs its second episode tonight after Mundo Mo’y Akin on GMA Telebabad.
