GMA Network, through the signing of a new Music License Agreement with the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) held last December 3, continues to recognize the rights of composers, authors and publishers to their original musical works.

Present during the contract signing held at the GMA Network Center were GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, Senior Vice President for Finance and ICT Ronaldo P. Mastrili, First Vice President for Post Production Edward D. Achacoso, Vice President for Legal Affairs Atty. Lynn P. Delfin, FILSCAP President Noel Cabangon, Chairman Nonoy Tan, General Manager Atty. Mark Thursday Alciso, and Corporate Secretary Kedy Sanchez.

FILSCAP, with an extensive collection of both local and foreign musical works, "is recognized worldwide as the sole and official music copyright society in the Philippines."

Gozon emphasized the importance of the Network’s partnership with FILSCAP saying, "Tayo ang kauna-unahang nakipag-contract sa FILSCAP. And we are honouring and recognizing their rights so we are law-abiding. That’s how important it is."

"Ang pinaka-importante dito is the recognition of the rights which are accorded to the composers, not only the Filipino composers but also the foreign composers that are represented by foreign affiliates," says Cabangon of the three-year agreement.
