At the 4th Paragala Central Luzon Media Awards organized by the HAU and the Communicators’ League, the Kapuso Network earned 10 awards in a ceremony held last February 18 at the Holy Angel University Theater in Pampanga.

GMA Network’s programs and personalities remain the choice of students and educators, taking home once again numerous recognitions from the Holy Angel University (HAU) and the Communicators’ League and the Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students (GEMS).

At the 4th Paragala Central Luzon Media Awards organized by the HAU and the Communicators’ League, the Kapuso Network earned 10 awards in a ceremony held last February 18 at the Holy Angel University Theater in Pampanga.

On top of winning the ratings game, GMA Flagship newscast 24 Oras once again took home the “Best News Program” award. The “Best Public Affairs Program” award went to I-Witness while the “Best Magazine Show” citation was awarded to Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. Wildlife documentary show Born to be Wild, meanwhile, was named “Best Educational Program”. Longest-running investigative program Imbestigador was cited as “Best Investigative Program”.

GMA News Pillar Arnold Clavio was honored as this year’s “Best Male News Anchor”. Clavio anchors late-night newscast Saksi and is one of the hosts of leading morning TV show Unang Hirit.

Veteran broadcast journalist Kara David, on the other hand, was conferred the “Best Female Field Reporter”. David is one of the hosts of top-notch documentary program I-Witness and co-anchors GMA News TV’s News to Go.

Meanwhile, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who dominated the primetime block with his hit seriesAlyas Robin Hood, was honored as the “Male Personality of the Year”. Dantes is also the host of the newest procedural crime documentary drama program Case Solved.

Pepito Manaloto, the country’s first-ever reality sitcom on television bannered by award-winning actor Michael V., won as “Best Sitcom” while longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga took home the “Best Noontime Show” award.

Various Kapuso programs and personalities were also honored at the 1st GEMS Hiyas ng Sining Awards last March 1 in Laguna Bel Air Science School in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

GMA News Pillar Mike Enriquez was named as “Best Male News Program Anchor” for 24 Oras.

I-Witness, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, and Eat Bulaga were all named “Best TV Programs”. Jessica Soho andKara David were recognized as “Best TV Program Hosts” for KMJS and I-Witness, respectively.

GMA News TV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho won as “Best News Program” withSoho earning the “Best Female News Program Anchor” as well.

GMA News’ coverage of the presidential elections, “Eleksyon 2016”, was cited as “Best TV Special”.

Kapuso personalities also took the spotlight that night. Eat Bulaga host Paolo Ballesteros was named as this year’s Best Actor for “Die Beautiful”. Kapuso actress Jaclyn Jose, in turn, was given a special recognition as the “Natatanging Hiyas ng Sining sa Pinilakang Tabing.”

The Paragala: Central Luzon Media Awards honors the best media personalities, shows, and TV stations in the country as voted by Central Luzon students. GEMS, on the other hand, is composed of academicians from various schools, professionals from private institutions and private sector, and students from prestigious colleges and universities.
