Oily skin? No problem! Here are the things that you have to keep in mind when using moisturizers on oily, acne-prone skin.

For people with oily, acne-prone skin, moisturizing can be tricky. Why? Because there's always this danger of moisturizers leaving a greasy residue on top of your already oily skin.

Even if it seems counterintuitive, you should moisturize your skin even if it's oily or acne-prone. But a regular moisturizer won't do.

We've gathered tips from beauty vloggers Anne Clutz and Liah Yoo.

1. Choose lightweight formula

Heavy formula balms and creams won't be your skin's best friend.

Choose the ones with a light water base or a gel type. The moisture will be absorbed by your skin and the breathable consistency won't clog your pores.

2. Avoid greasiness

Moisturizers that leave your face shiny and give you a slick feeling aren't meant for your skin type because this shows they haven't been properly absorbed into your skin.

Skin that feels refreshed yet matte (not oily) means that the products have been absorbed well and are drying on your skin properly.

3. Find balance

One of the reasons skin gets oily is because it lacks natural moisture.

This causes the oil glands to go into overdrive in trying to compensate for the lack of moisture, thus, resulting in oily skin.

Avoid over-washing your face or using harsh toners that can be drying so your hydration levels and sebum production can have balance.

4. Choose non-comedogenic products

When buying a moisturizer, check the label and look for ingredients such as Ascorbyl palmitate, almond oil, Cetyl alcohol, cocoa butter and oil, coconut butter and oil, lanolin, olive oil, and shea butter because these can clog your pores and cause acne.

5. Avoid over-moisturizing the oily areas

If you have combination skin type which has both dry and oily areas, moisturizing is still important. Just remember to apply less on areas of your face that are oily.

6. Go for glycerine and hyaluronic acid

These ingredients can hydrate the skin without emollients--which can be too heavy for oily skin. Aloe vera can also do wonders for oily skin as it soothes and cools irritated skin while providing moisture.

Even if your skin gets way oily, don't skip moisturizing. It's important to understand just how beneficial the right moisturizer can be for oily skin.

With the right skin care regimen and hydration using the right moisturizer, you can put an end to the unwanted shine on your face and say hello to a healthier, more dewy complexion.
