GMANetwork.com collated some tips from your favorite social media influencers who shared their shopping experience in the most popular ukay-ukay stores frequented by shoppers.

Vlogger Camille Co chose to visit the ukay-ukay mecca in the Southern Luzon in Olivarez Plaza in Tagaytay City.

In her vlog, Camille shared some of the things you could do to find the best fashionable pieces in a thrift store.

“You should start in the lower price racks so the 20 pesos, 50 pesos, 80 pesos. We did do that but it's always so full off different things and you have to be really patient to see anything decent on those racks, especially if you are looking for fashionable pieces.

“So if you don't have enough time then go to the mid-price ones. Usually 80 pesos, 120 pesos are the better finds mostly in better condition.”

Meanwhile, fashion/lifestyle vlogger Laureen Uy, a self-confessed 'uka-ukay addict,' talked about how she saves money during college by buying her clothes in an ukay-ukay store.

She narrates, “When I was in college, ukay-ukay queen ako. As in every week, I really go to ukay-ukay to find clothes and I will buy tops and skirts for 50 pesos, 100 pesos and it's a really nice store to find unique pieces.”

Laureen decided to visit the ukay-ukay place in Anonas Mall located near the LRT-2 station in Quezon City.

One of the things she reminded netizens was to carefully wash the clothes you bought in a thrift store.

She stressed, “If you are buying from ukay-ukay I prefer not trying it on already. So what I do is pinapakuluan ko siya when I get home and then I just wear it right after I wash it.”

For her part, Vlogger Ry Velasco visited the Design-on Ukay-Ukay near Roosevelt Station along EDSA.

She gave a helpful tip on choosing the pieces in an ukay-ukay so you won't feel overwhelmed with the tons of choices you could find.

Ry said, “Tingnan niyo lang yung mukhang magiging bet n'yo para hindi kayo matagalan sa pag-uukay, instinct is key.”

Being fashionable should not hurt your wallet. Take a trip to the nearest ukay-ukay shop in your neighborhood and cash-in the huge discount you could get from it.
