January is packed with a variety of interesting movies to watch. There's drama, action, sci-fi, comedy, musical -and surprisingly-- lots of horror movies.

Regardless of what genre you like most, there's surely a movie that you'd want to check out this January.

If you don't believe us, then go check out for yourself the synopses, release dates, and trailers of the upcoming movies this month.

1. Cats - Jan. 8

The star-studded musical fantasy film is one of the most-awaited movies of 2020. Principal Ballerina Francesca Hayward plays the lead role of Victoria. Other celebrities included in the cast are: Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden, Rebel Wilson, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Hudson, Judi Dench, and Ian McKellen.

2. The Assent - Jan. 8

Those who want to start the year with a good scare should definitely watch the Assent. It's about a single father, played by Robert Kazinsky, who suspects that his son may be possessed.

3. The Cleansing Hour - Jan. 8

A production team fakes an exorcism webcast. The “live exorcisms” become a global hit online, but the game changes when one of them actually becomes possessed by a demon.

4. Underwater - Jan. 10

It's a sci-fi horror film top-billed by Kirsten Stewart, about a group of aquatic researchers who suddenly find themselves needing to evacuate their subterranean laboratory, located 7 miles below the ocean's surface, after an earthquake. They soon discover that they have more to fear than the earthquake.

5. The Grudge - Jan. 15

It's the fourth installment in the Grudge film series, and it is actually a sidequel or spin off, and not a sequel. The movie will revolve around a police officer investigating several murders that seem to be all linked to a single house.

6. Richard Jewell - Jan. 15

The film is a biographical drama about American security guard, Richard Jewell, who discovered a bomb and alerted authorities to evacuate but was later on accused of placing the bomb himself. The movie is directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Paul Walter Hauser as Richard Jewell. Also, part of the cast are Sam Rockwell, Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm, and Olivia Wilde.

7. Bad Boys for Life - Jan. 22

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are reunited in the third and final installment of the Bad Boys trilogy. The action-comedy film also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, and Charles Melton. Also, with special appearances by DJ Khaled and Nicky Jam.

8. D'Ninang - Jan. 22

The Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas plays the role of Ninang, a skilled thief who is generous to the people in her community, much like a female Robin Hood. She is suddenly reunited with her long-lost daughter Mikay, played by Kisses Delavin, who doesn't have an idea about her illegal side hustle. The film also stars McCoy de Leon, Kelvin Miranda, Joey Marquez, Angel Guardian, Lou Veloso, and Kiray Celis.

9. Just Mercy - Jan. 22

Just Mercy is based on a true story of a Harvard graduate lawyer who goes to Alabama to defend those who are wrongly accused of crimes. Award-winning actor Michael B. Jordan, portrays the lead role of Bryan Stevenson. One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian, played by Jamie Foxx, a man on death row for the murder of an 18-year old girl. The movie also stars Brie Larson, who plays the role if Eva Ansley, the woman who believed and supported Stevenson.

10. The Turning - Jan. 24

The supernatural horror film is a modern adaptation of the 1898 novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. It's produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Floria Sigismondi. Mackenzie Davis plays the role of Kate, a newly-hired nanny tasked to care for two seemingly disturbed orphans, Flora and Miles, played by Brooklynn Prince and Finn Wolfhard.
