GMA kickstarts the 2014 with a bang as Kapuso TV and news personalities get recognized for their exemplary work in their respective fields. GMA Network won in several categories in the 12th run of the prestigious Gawad Tanglaw Awards.
In the field of radio broadcasting, DZBB received the Best AM Station award. Several Kapuso programs also received accolades in the field of news and public affairs. These include State of the Nation, which was named Best News Program, I-Witness, which was named Best Documentary Program and Wish Ko Lang, which was named Best Public Sevice Program.
GMA is also known for bringing cutting-edge lifestyle shows to the table. Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho was named Best Magazine Show by the Gawad Tanglaw.
Entertainment is definitely GMA’s turf which is why it was not surprising that Magpakailanman was awarded Best Drama Anthology, while seasoned Kapuso actress Jean Garcia was named Best Performance by an Actress for her portrayal in the “Hinagpis ng Isang Ina” episode of Magpakailanman.
The most daring and phenomenal series that Philippine TV has ever seen, My Husband’s Lover was also lauded. Cast members Dennis Trillo, Tom Rodriguez, Carla Abellana, Chanda Romero, Roi Vinzon and Kuh Ledesma won the Best Ensemble Performance in a TV series award.
GMA also received special awards, including the Developmental Communication Award for Comprehensive Reportage on Yolanda Tragedy, which was given to Ms. Love Anover. The youngest talk show host in the country, Ryzza Mae Dizon was the recepient of the BATA (Bibo, Aktibo at Talentadong Anak ng Sining) award.
