Another Filipina makes it to the West End!

Natalie Mendoza, whose father hails from Laguna and mother from Australia, now plays Gigi in Miss Saigon. Kapuso performer Rachelle Ann Go portrayed the role in the previous run of the West End revival.

Natalie, meanwhile, played Imelda Marcos in Here Lies Love, a musical about the life of the Marcos family where Mark Bautista also starred in.

According to a report in 24 Oras, Natalie is not pressured about the big shoes she is filling. Although she was sick for the first week of the run, she has managed to get by and still enjoy because of the people around her.

“Got through my first week despite being a sicky chook… Blown away by the generosity of the entire company,” she wrote on Twitter.

This early, she already claims to love the entire production and is excited for what lies ahead.

“I have a job that I love, with people I love,” she said.
