Kapuso actress LJ Reyes and partner Paolo Contis are expecting their first baby. Paolo made the announcement on Instagram after posting a photo of LJ's sonogram.

LJ shared she was nine weeks pregnant by the time she found out. She said, “Actually, medyo late namin nalaman kasi mayroon akong hyperacidity, so kapag hindi ako nakakakain on time, nati-trigger 'yun tapos sumusuka ako. 'Tapos yun pala may baby na.”

What she thought was hyperacidity turned out to be her second pregnancy. “Nung nagpa-check up kami, I was already nine weeks [pregnant]. So meron na siyang head, may body, tsaka may hands and feet na talaga siya.

She added, “Tapos sobrang lakas ng heartbeat niya so we're very happy kasi it's a good sign daw talaga.”

LJ's family was the first to know about the new addition to their family. She said, “Family ko [ang] una naming sinabihan, pero 'yung mom ko and 'yung sister ko, sila 'yung unang nakaalam.”

'Yung ibang family members parang meron lang kaming binigay na cute na note sa kanila, binigyan lang nami sila ng parang card. Gusto lang namin i-reveal, may “See you soon, auntie and uncles, grandma and grandpa.”

She shared how excited her family is on her baby. “They're all very happy, until now, excited. Kasi sa family namin, tatlo kami na pregnant, halos sunod-sunod.”

May in-upload ako na video. Kasi gusto ko talagang i-record 'yung reaction niya kasi early this year pa lang talaga nanghihingi na talaga siya ng kapatid at sabi ko paano ko ibibigay sa 'yo 'yun eh hindi naman 'yun para lang laruan na puwede mo lang bilhin.

The most excited among everyone is LJ's 8-year-old son Aki. "'Yung reaction niya sobrang nakakatawa, kasi dati nagpe-pretend siya na may baby sa tummy ko. Nung ni-reveal namin sa kaniya, hindi siya makapaniwala kasi he's been asking for it for how many months na, parang feeling niya jino-joke lang namin siya.”

Some 8 years ago, I was blessed to carry a child that would bring so much joy and motivation and love to my life! I love kids! I am very fond of them! And having to bear mine was definitely a sweet surprise! It wasn't easy. The road had been very rough for me. Maybe some of you witnessed it, maybe many of you did not. All throughout the path of motherhood, I had one thing in mind. I want to take precious care of this little angel that God have blessed me with! Raise him as His child and pour so much love into his heart! I hope I did good and still do. It taught me a lot of things. Patience Perseverance Faith Endurance Responsibility Strength Life (And so much more!) But most of all, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! I am not perfect and never will be. I am a work in progress in all aspects of my life. But I will continue fighting to be stronger. I will continue to learn, to be better. She shared that Aki initially wanted a baby brother. “Gusto niya ng playmate, matagal niya na sinasabi. Tsaka feeling niya kapag girl baka maarte. So sabi ko sa kaniya, hindi, siyempre tayo 'yung magtuturo para hind maging maarte kung ano man 'yung definition mo ng maarte. Pero siyempre kapag girl, gentle talaga."

LJ also noted that she's slightly hoping for a baby girl. “Wala pa akong feeling, mahirap masabi sa totoo lang. Pero ako gusto ko sana girl kasi may boy na ako so gusto ko naman ng girl. Pero si Paolo gusto niya sana boy, pero gusto niya na rin ng girl kasi feeling niya deserve ko magkaroon ng girl.”

But like all parents, she and Paolo are wishing the baby would just be healthy. She said, “Actually ang priority lang is sana maging healthy.”
