Catriona Gray: “I stand here today because someone believed in me and we owe it to our children to believe in them.”

Catriona Gray continues her Miss Universe journey as she enters the Top 5 finalists at the coronation night currently being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

More than the crown, Catriona has been very vocal about using her stint at beauty pageants to pursue her advocacies, and she talked about one of these in her opening statement earlier.

The 24-year-old Pinay beauty queen said, “Working in some of the poorest areas of my country, I found that it was a lack of child support, not poverty, that killed their dreams.

“A child once told me, 'Cat, that's just not my life, and those dreams are meant for me'.

“But I stand here today because someone believed in me and we owe it to our children to believe in them.”

Aside from pushing for education for underprivileged children in the country, Catriona is also a strong supporter of groups that aim to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS.
