With the release of a new album, Lovi says she's learned to accept what she has done before and to just aspire for better things.
In 2006, Lovi gave the best of her heart -- isang album release na aminado siyang kinasawaan niya -- but not anymore. With the release of "Bloom," Lovi says she's learned to accept what she has done before and to just aspire for better things. Text by Jason John S. Lim.
Dalawang shows ni Lovi ang nag-overlap early this year: ang
LaLola at
Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang. Pero something else overlapped with the two -- ang promotional efforts para sa latest album ni
Lovi Poe, ang
Bloom.

"Ang tagal ko na ring hindi kumakanta. Minsan, parang nakalimutan ko na kung paano," Lovi laughs nang tanungin namin how it feels to go back sa music scene. True, Lovi did have
Kaputol ng Isang Awit where she played a singer, pero it's not the same as being a singer in real life.
"[Though,] I also have the
Kaputol theme song [in my album]." Lovi tells iGMA that she wanted to have her
Kaputol co-star
Glaiza de Castro sing with her but conflicting recording companies prevented that from happening. Kaya naman she wishes, "sana magustuhan [ng mga tao], medyo iba lang ng konti -- pero it's almost the same."
She did get to record a duet sa album niya though it’s with teen heartthrob
Aljur Abrenica. "It's fun actually. Aljur is a very good singer." Lovi shares, "Alam ko yun 'yung first love niya -- dream niya talagang maging singer.”
For
Bloom, Lovi says she is more hands-on this time than she was sa kanyang first album. "I just wanted to show everyone na nag-mature na ako. Kasi, 'yung first album ko, may hawak pa akong teddy bear, meron pang horse-thingy doon sa side. So pag nakikita ko yun, natatawa ako.
Because
Bloom features collaborations with people who worked on her first album at dahil na rin alam nila ang gusto at kayang gawin ni Lovi, talaga namang "masaya” ang dalaga sa final output.
And siyempre, this time around, she has a composition of her own! "It's called 'Paulit-ulit, I wrote it a year ago."
When iGMA asked Lovi kung ano sa mga bagong songs niya ang pinakapaborito niya, nag-isip siya ng malalim. Surprisingly, she didn't pick the song she wrote herself! Finally, she tells us na favorite niya ang “I'm Your Friend” and “Love on a Two-Way Street.” Dagdag pa niya, "['yung] duet ko with Aljur, isa rin yun sa mga favorites ko -- very road-trip kind of mood."
Bloom is available in record stores nationwide. After "Sana," the album's carrier single, Lovi hopes to release another single soon, as well as stage another show, to promote her album.
Don't forget that Lovi is part of
Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang, weeknights on GMA Telebabad.
