Joyce Ching and her husband Kevin Alimon's contribution to help fight the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)is through the spiritual way.
On the first day of the community quarantine, the couple launched a short prayer video on Facebook, encouraging everyone to pray together as a nation to regain the sense of optimism that might be lost especially at this point in time.
Joyce then added, "Even 'yung thinking natin nagiging negative din.
"Parang nami-miss out natin 'yung mga positive things na nangyayari, nami-miss out natin 'yung mga good things na nand'yan pa rin naman.
"So we decided to make short videos just to encourage, you guys.
"We could pray together para ma-remind din tayo na merong hope na matatapos din ang coronavirus na ito."
The devout Born Again Christians interpreted a biblical verse in the book of Philippians for their first prayer video, inspiring people not to worry.
Joyce uttered, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done."
Expounding what he has understood from the verse, Kevin shared his personal reflection, saying: "Ang gandang reminder lang nito kasi ako, personally, sobrang worried ako mapunta sa public places kasi natatakot ako kasi kapag nagksakit ako, may possibility na magkasakit na rin siya at makahawa kami sa iba't ibang tao.
"And for me, mas magandang reminder to instead of fear or anxiety or worry. I think the best weapon we can use right now is to pray to God because he holds everything, he is in control of everything."
