Last week, GMA-7’s “Spooky Nights” featured a horror presentation about a popular Filipino tradition during Christmas – the simbang gabi. This Saturday, the program makes viewers tense and jump in fear because of a parol or Christmas lantern.
“Spooky Nights Presents: Parol” is about siblings Aya, Elmer and Carol, who are portrayed by Diana Zubiri, Alden Richards and Bianca King respectively. With them in this presentation are Louise Delos Reyes, Emilio Garcia, Lenlen Frial and Pen Medina.
As Christmas nears, Aya (Diana), her daughter Frances (Lenlen) and Elmer (Alden) return to their hometown to pick up their Tatay Danny (Pen), who is now paralyzed. Tatay Danny had a heart attack when Carol abandoned him and her husband, Hector (Emilio) for some unknown reasons.
When they get to their home, Elmer sees his childhood friend, Gengeng (Louise), and hears from her that unusual and mysterious things have been happening in their house since Carol had gone.
Their family’s abode further turns into a haunted house when Frances (Lenlen) finds the lantern made by Aya and Carol a long time ago. When they hang it, they begin hearing cries for help. A disturbed soul also makes its presence felt in their house and this causes Aya, Elmer and Gengeng to investigate all these mysterious happenings.
Why do such weird things happen in their house? Does this have something to do with Carol’s sudden leaving? Will the lantern help them find the answers to their questions or only endanger their life?
The scary yet appealing Christmas features of the Kapuso Network continue with this creation of Director Uro Q. Dela Cruz and Headwriter Senedy Que!
