Enzo Pineda on 'Basement': "It's an honor to work with Direk Topel Lee"

Kapuso heartthrob Enzo Pineda was very visible last 2013, appearing in Kakambal ni Eliana and Dormitoryo. This 2014, expect the unexpected from Enzo as he reveals a different side of himself in the upcoming horror film, Basement.

“May asawa ako dito pero may kabit ako, so I’m slightly bad,” said Enzo of his character in the film.

He continued, “Even though may kabit ako, makikita niyo sa movie na may puso ang character ko. I think it’s significant because ito ‘yung start ng ibang atake for my acting career.”

Enzo is among the film’s ensemble cast which includes Chynna Ortaleza, Mona Louise Rey, Louise de los Reyes, Kristoffer Martin, Dion Ignacio, Sarah Lahbati, Teejay Marquez, RJ Padilla, Kevin Santos, Betong Sumaya and Ellen Adarna.

How does it feel to be part of this film?

Enzo answered, “This was shot two years ago and I was fresh from workshops. Happy ako kasi isa ‘to sa mga unang movies ko. This is my second big movie. I’m very honored because ang gagaling ng cast. It’s like an all-star cast, so masaya siya.”

“It’s really an honor, especially getting to work with Direk Topel Lee, who is an award-winning director lalo na sa horror films. He’s a very good friend of mine also,” he added.

What sets Basement apart from the typical horror films in Philippine cinema?

“They’ve never done a movie na nasa basement lang ang lahat ng characters and everybody has to save themselves from the manananggal. I think it has a foreign touch to it. Tayo kasing mga Pinoy, usually sa haunted house ‘yung location ng horror films. At least, maiba naman,” replied Enzo.

If he were stuck in a basement with a manananggal in real life, what would he do?

“Siguro puwede kong ligawan ‘yung manananggal hanggang sa makatakas ako,” he quipped.

“Seriously, it’s really hard to fight something that is more powerful than you. You really have to use everything that you have. Now or never na ‘yan eh. ‘Pag wala kang ginawa, mamamatay ka so might as well fight,” stated the Kapuso actor.

Catch Enzo Pineda in Basement, in cinemas this February. He also appears in Sunday All Stars. For more updates, keep visiting www.gmanetwork.com.
