Surviving a "manananggal" and scoring the first date, pointers from Kevin Santos

Projects have been pouring in for Kevin Santos after his much-lauded portrayal of Danny in the phenomenal GMA Telebabad series, My Husband’s Lover.

This Kapuso month, Kevin will be appearing in the horror film, Basement.

In the movie, Kevin plays the role of a truck driver, who along with a handful of people, got stuck in a mall’s basement.

Of his character, he said, “Hot-tempered siya pero kung i-a-approach niya ‘yung mga lines na sinasabi niya, medyo funny. The thing is hindi siya tumatawa. Hindi siya kengkoy. Nakakatawa siya kahit hindi nagpapatawa.”

The horror element of the film relies highly on the presence of a manananggal who aims to kill every person in the basement. What would Kevin do when faced with this kind of situation?

“Sig8uro hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko pero lalaban na lang ako. Kung anuman ‘yung mahawakan ko, ipapalo ko sa manananggal,” he answered.

He continued, “Pipilitin kong maka-survive. Lahat naman tayo ayaw mamatay, so lalaban tayo. Kung mamatay man, at least lumaban tayo.”

What sets Basement apart from the typical horror films that Filipinos get to see?

“Kahit ako natatakot noong pinanood ko ‘yung trailer. Marami silang aabangan dito. Maraming artista at super suspense at maraming kagugulatan na mangyayari dito kaya sana tangkilikin natin ang Basement,” he replied.

Kevin also mentioned that Basement would be an exciting movie to watch with your date this coming Valentine’s day.

The Kapuso actor added that he doesn’t have plans yet for Valentine’s but he hopes to meet that special someone soon.

How does he let a girl know that he is interested?

Kevin said, “Hindi kasi ako ‘yung type na duma-da-moves. ‘Pag ang babae kasi sa akin super special, talagang iniingatan ko lahat ng mga ginagawa ko and kung magkakaroon ako ng girlfriend, I will treat her like a princess.”

He gave this piece of advice for guys who are dying to approach the apple of their eye: “Huwag kayong matakot sa mga babae, kasi nalalaman nila ‘pag natatakot kayong magsimulang mag-usap. Ang mabuting gawin ninyo, maging confident kayo sa sarili ninyo at huwag kayong mayabang. Maging totoo lang kayo.”

Catch Kevin Santos in Basement, in cinemas beginning February 12. Also do catch him in The Borrowed Wife on GMA Afternoon Prime.
