#HeartOverHate campaign of GMA Network gets nominated as Social Movement of the YearSep 14, 2016 06:14 pm
BlogEx Manila named #HeartOverHate as one of the nominees of the BlogEx Awards’ Social Movement of the Year.
The campaign advocates online positivity by creating a social media landscape founded on encouragement, kindness and responsibility. Several stars including Alden Richards and Marian Rivera have expressed their firm stand against cyberbullying.
Raphael Florescio, the network’s Social Media Head believes that the initiative has the potential to create a ripple effect among today’s youth.
“As ambassadors of the digital era, it’s key that we recognize the power of social media and our ability to influence others. We can influence our family, peers, colleagues, and even extend this influence to strangers. The online landscape is our generation’s playing field, a public space where we can share ideas, connect with people and grow as human beings,” he said.
He also emphasized the tremendous power of people in the digital era and how this strength should be harnessed for the greater good.
“Let’s not vandalize this space with hateful comments and bringing other people down. Instead, let’s promote positivity and bring out the best in each other. There are so many cases of cyber bullying every day, but we can all play a part in stopping this. Share a compliment, say something nice, and encourage others. It’s really as easy as clicking button,” he added.
According to its website, the Blog Ex Awards recognizes ‘social media achievements through blogging’ and serves as ‘a digital outreach platform that connects blogs with brands.’ It is organized by Tag Media Public Relations and Brand Philosophy Inc.
The #DapatTama campaign of GMA News and Public Affairs aimed towards responsible voting is also one of the nominees.
