When the Kapuso Primetime King and Queen confirmed they are tying the knot before the year ends, there was a detail the power couple was immediately sure of -  they are getting married at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao.

While others might have expected a different venue for the royal wedding, it seemed it has always been Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera’s Church of choice.

Dingdong revealed, "Ang una-una pong naging factor namin to consider sa pagpili po ng lugar is a place kung saan both meaningful po sa amin pareho.”

“Doon ako lumaki sa area na 'yun, in fact dun ako bininyagan, pero 'yun din 'yung isa sa mga simbahang madalas naming puntahan since we became together. Aside from the fact na it's very beautiful inside, siguro hindi naman namin din na-consider muna na magkaroon ng ibang mag-a-attend but I mean everyone’s welcome naman,” he continued.

The Immaculate Conception Parish is located at the heart of Cubao, adjacent to busy streets and residences. However, Dingdong and Marian never hesitated to celebrate one of the biggest days of their lives there.

“Hangga’t maaari po ang gusto namin Metro Manila talaga eh kasi we could’ve chosen a place, like a destination wedding, pero gusto namin talaga ‘yung malapit po sa puso namin,” the actor reiterated.

He, however, added, “Syempre at the end of the day, ang importante ay ma-assure ang seguridad ng lahat ng tao, hindi lang sa amin kundi pati ng mga bisita at mga gustong makarating. Siguro as heads of this event, we would make sure that security will always be a priority.”
The bride-to-be also affirmed she has been dreaming of a church wedding.

“Oo, very vocal ako sa pagsasabi niyan. Pag ikakasal ako, kahit saan pa ‘yan ang importante talaga sa akin simbahan. Kasi Katoliko ako kaya gusto ko talaga kung ano man ‘yung ceremony na nangyayari, gusto ko talaga nandiyan si God,” Marian emphasized.

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral used to be a rice paddy area  68 years ago. Beginning 1935, masses were held in a small chapel near the present Cubao rotonda.

Fr. Juan Simon, SVD, recognized as the church’s first parish priest, canonically erected the Immaculate Conception Parish on July 15, 1950. The cornerstone of the present Church was laid and blessed on the feast of the Immaculate Conception in the same year. It was liturgically proclaimed a Cathedral on August 28, 2003.

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral had a rich history. To add to that, on December 30, 2014 it will witness the blissful union of Dingdong and Marian to forever.
