June is proving to be a month of celebrations for GMA Pinoy TV, with its participation in the 2017 Tokyo Summer Festival in Japan and a couple of program-based events in Hong Kong and Singapore featuring the stars of Magpakailanman and Meant To Be, respectively.

In observance of the Migrant Workers’ Day and 119th celebration of Philippine Independence, Kapuso Comedy Queen Aiai delas Alas and Encantadia heartthrob Ruru Madrid will join their kababayans at the 2017 Tokyo Summer Festival on June 10and 11 at Ueno Park in Tokyo, Japan. Organized by the Luminaries Joint Group, the event lasts for nine days and features multicultural performances, contests, and pageants.

Ruru will be flying in to meet and greet festival attendees on June 10 while Aiai is poised to offer her signature show-stopping performance the following day.

On June 2, Ms. Mel Tiangco and the rest of Magpakailanman team were warmly received by Pinoys abroad as they roamed the streets of Hong Kong to shoot for episodes that will tell the story of OFWs. These will be about a Filipina working in Disneyland and a homeless Pinay in Hong Kong, to be portrayed by Rochelle Pangilinan and Janice de Belen, respectively.

In-between their 3-day shoot, guest stars Mikee Quintos, Kate Valdez, and Nar Cabico along with the Magpakailanman crew paid a courtesy visit to Consul General Bernardita L. Catalla at the Philippine Consulate Office in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, the cast of top-rating romantic-comedy TV series Meant To Be made their fans swoon in Singapore during a meet-and-greet session held at Ramada Hotel on June 2. In their first ever Singapore sojourn, Meant To Be heartthrobs Ivan Dorschner, Addy Raj, Jak Roberto, and Ken Chan were present to bring the “kilig” during the event, together with Manilyn Reynes, Keempee de Leon, and Sef Cadayona. The extremely fortunate fans were also given limited GMA Pinoy TV and Meant To Be merchandise. After the momentous gathering, Ken and Jak headed to the Marina Bay to bond with more fans.

The meet-and-greet session was just one of the activities that the Meant To Be cast squeezed in during their four-day shoot in the Lion City. The production team also gave online viewers a glimpse of what to expect leading to the show’s nail-biting finale, through live videos and other exclusive content available on the GMA Pinoy TV Facebook page. The Kapuso stars and the series’ lead actress Barbie Forteza also paid a courtesy visit to the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and received by Vice Consul Tony Reyes on behalf of Ambassador Antonio A. Morales.
