Filipino School Expands to Queens This Fall
NEW YORK, NY - The Filipino School of New York & New Jersey will be expanding their reach into Queens, NY this fall at the office of Nodutdol for Korean Community Development located at 53-22 Roosevelt Avenue, 2nd Floor, Woodside, NY.

The 8-week fall/winter semester is now accepting enrollment for children ages 4 through 12 and will meet every other Saturday from 11:00am – 12:00pm, fromSeptember 15 through December 15.
In the Karanasang, Pilipino, 2.0 (Filipino Experience, 2.0) program, students will be able to further explore, learn about and associate with the Philippine culture. The goal is to connect their learning experience to understanding who they are today, and how to maintain that connection with the Philippines and to be proud of being Filipino. Various learning and teaching methods will be used to ensure a fun, yet educational experience.  Guest instructors will join select classes as they share their love, passion and expertise of Philippine culture with the students.

The school first opened to the public in Jersey City, NJ in January 2011, and has served over 75 students in the New York and New Jersey areas.  Its signature programs are its theme-based Filipino language and cultural programs for children that run throughout the academic year (September through June), Philippine folk dance program, and its adult conversational Tagalog program, levels I and II.  Other services available are Filipino cultural dance performances for private functions and festivals; travelling workshops and programs to schools, corporations and organizations in remote areas; and party packages for birthdays and other special events.  Our curriculum follows both the New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Learning Standards for the Arts and the State of New Jersey's Core Curriculum Content Standards for Language Arts Literacy.  In 2011, it won TOFA-NY’s award in the Youth & Sports category.
