GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) received a donation of 1 million pesos from Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) for its steel hanging bridge construction project in Buhi, Camarines Sur.

The project dubbed, “Kapuso Tulay para sa Kaunlaran” aims to replace the broken down bridge in Barangay Iraya in Buhi, Camarines Sur which was severely damaged by Super Typhoon Nina (December 2016) and was the only access of residents to get to the local elementary school.

GMAKF Founder and Ambassador Mel C. Tiangco welcomed Mitsubishi’s donation which will fund its first steel hanging bridge construction project. “It is from our heart that we are thanking Mitsubishi for the trust that they are giving us and, in turn, I also give them our assurance that the money that they are wholeheartedly giving will really go to those who deserve it,” Tiangco said.

On the other hand, MMPC President and CEO Yoshiaki Kato expressed his eagerness to help transform and improve the lives of people through their company’s simple act of generosity. “May this project create a big impact to the residents and to further encourage the children of Barangay Iraya to pursue their education,” said Mr. Kato.

Tiangco and Kato were joined by GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, and MMPC FVP for Vehicle Sales & Marketing Froilan G. Dytianquin during the donation turnover ceremony held last July 6 at the GMA Network Center.
