Gilas fans online come to Douthit's defense after Chot's tirade

Following Gilas Pilipinas' disappointing 77-68 loss to Qatar on Friday, coach Chot Reyes accused Marcus Douthit of quitting on the team.

Reyes told reporters that the team can go all-Filipino and Douthit can go home if he does not want to play anymore.

Douthit was visibly slow on defense during the game, especially during the third quarter stretch when Qatari shooters rained wide-open treys to blow up their lead.

Fans took to Twitter to defend Douthit and express dismay at the coach's statements against the center, who has been playing for the national team since 2011.

Douthit was originally not part of the Gilas lineup for the Asian Games, but got called back after NBA star Andray Blatche's disqualification from the tournament. Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
