Local government authorities continue to monitor the situation in some coastal barangays in Bacolod City despite the lifting of Signal No. 1 in the province of Negros Occidental.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, Barangays Banago, Singkang and Panakoy are being closely watched by authorities, as these areas were previously hit by a flash flood in September 2017.

In Barangay Banago, the small boats of fishermen were earlier tied in a safe place as the residents braced for Tropical Depression Samuel.

Some locals, however, did not heed PAGASA's warning and continued to venture to the sea despite the inclement weather.

On the other hand, around 20 trucks bound for Iloilo were stranded in a port after roro trips were cancelled as the tropical depression approached early this week. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
