Kung may hindi sang-ayon na mabigyan ng ilang pribilehiyo ang mga overseas Filipino worker gaya ng day off, mayroon naman sumasang-ayon dito tulad ng Emirati columnist at social commentator na si Khalid Al Ameri.
Sa kaniyang video post, idinepensa ni Al Ameri ang pagkakaloob ng pahinga sa mga OFW na unang pinuna ng Kuwaiti Instagram personality na si Sondos Alqattan.
Kinuwestiyon din ni Alqattan kung bakit pinayagan ang mga OFW sa Kuwait na manatili sa kanila ang kanilang pasaporte na dating kinukumpiska ng mga amo.
Ang pagkakaloob ng day off at pananatili ng passport sa mga OFW ay bahagi ng napagkasunduan ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas at Kuwait para protektahan ang mga OFW.
Ayon kay Al Ameri, nararapat lang na mabigyan ng day off ang mga OFW dahil katulad din sila ng ibang manggagawa na kailangan ng pahinga.
"How would you feel if you worked for someone that [not only refused to give you] a day off, but disagreed with the very ideology that you deserve a day off?" sabi ni Al Ameri exclaimed.
Patuloy niya, "We are not robots at the end of the day, we are all humans [and we] expect to have time to rest and time for ourselves."
Tungkol sa reklamo ni Alqattan na puwedeng umalis anumang oras ang kasambahay dahil sila na ang may hawak ng passport, sabi ni Al Ameri, "There's a reason they keep running away from you and maybe you are that a reason."
Binigyan-diin ni Al Ameri, na dapat igalang ang karapatang pantao ng kahit sinuman.
"I believe we are all human beings in this planet [who] all want the same things in life — to be happy, to grow old with the people we love, to take care of our families, and to be at peace. I think anyone [who] gets in the way of that is a serious problem to this world and to the way we want to live our lives," saad niya.
Sa huli, nagpasalamat si Al Ameri sa lahat ng domestic helper sa mundo.
"On behalf of my country, on behalf of my family, I want to thank every single domestic worker in this part of the world for helping us and being part of our family," aniya. — FRJ, GMA News
