Former DLSU president, CHED chair Br. Rolando Dizon dies

Former De La Salle University president Br. Rolando Dizon, FSC has passed on after a long battle with cancer. “Br. Roly passed away at 7:09 p.m. today. Kindly pray for the repose of his soul. Thank you for the support and prayers of the Lasallian Family in the past few days,” said Br. Ricky Laguda, FSC, sector leader of the De La Salle Brothers Philippines. “Today, Br. Roly is resting with Lord and your continuing prayers will be much appreciated,” Laguda added.

The De La Salle Brothers said Dizon's remains lie in state at the National Shrine of the Divine Child in La Salle Greenhills.

His remains will be cremated on April 29 at the crematorium of the Loyola Memorial chapels in Guadalupe, Makati and then interred at the De La Salle Brothers Memorial Cloister in the La Salle Novitiate in Lipa City, Batangas.

Dizon was principal of the grade school and high school of La Salle Greenhills. He also served as chairman of the Commission on Higher Education from 2003 to 2004. He was an alumnus of the Catholic University of America and of Stanford University. — ELR, GMA News
