L-R: DepEd Sec. Armin Luistro FSC, DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC, Chancellor Emeritus Dr. Carmelita Quebengco AFSC, DLSU Former President and Chancellor Br. Narciso Erguiza, Jr. FSC
At the age of five, Br. Laguda started his studies at the University of St. La Salle Integrated School in Bacolod.  He then attended Ateneo de Manila University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, which he completed in 1992. That same year, he joined the De La Salle Brothers for his one-year Postulancy at the Lasallian Center.

In 1993, he started his novitiate in Lipa, Batangas where Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC became his Novice Master.  Upon completion of his novitiate, he had his first profession of vows in 1995.

Br. Laguda continued his further studies at DLSU for his Master’s degree in Religious Education, which he finished in 2000, and for his PhD Executive Program in Educational Leadership and Management, which he completed in 2007.

In 2006, he was assigned to De La Salle Canlubang to serve as Interim President. In 2007, he concurrently served as the President of the Jaime Hilario Integrated School-La Salle in Bagac, Bataan and De La Salle Araneta University in Malabon.

Br. Laguda had also been sent to Harvard University for management training to prepare him to assume a senior management position at DLSU and DLSC and his stint as President of De La Salle Philippines also gave him a broader perspective of the education Mission of the DLS Brothers.

In his first 100 days, he met with all the sectors of the DLSU community, including faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, alumni, and benefactors. Through regular conversations and reflection with them, Br. Ricky hopes that all the stakeholders from DLSU’s main campus and from its Science and Technology Complex in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna will own the process of “creating the next great idea.” He underscores the need to promote the values of Faith, Service, and Communion in Mission, in the pursuit of the University’s vision-mission to be “A leading learner-centered research university, bridging faith and scholarship in the service of society, especially the poor.”

The ceremony was held at the Most Blessed Sacrament Chapel inside the DLSU campus. Lasallian brothers, faculty, alumni, and other members of the Lasallian community attended the event. Press release and photo from De La Salle University
