PUP gears up for 2nd Young Communicators' Congress


The Polytechnic University of the Philippines says it’s all systems go for the 2nd Young Communicators’ Congress which will be held at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Friday, October 19 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
 
Organized by the PUP College of Communication and endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education, the event focuses on the theme “Youth in Communication: Advocates of Peace and the Environment for Sustainable Development.” 
 
Over a thousand communication students from PUP and several colleges and universities in the country are expected to interact with Prof. Bradley C. Freeman (Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Singapore), Mr. Karlon N. Rama (Peace and Conflict Journalism Network), Mr. Ted Failon (ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp.), Mr. Nathaniel Cruz (GMA 7), Ms. Kara Patria C. David (GMA 7), Mr. Armando Rojo (Public Relations Society of the Philippines), Mr. Jose Enrique Africa (IBON Foundation), and Atty. Nepomuceno Malaluan (Access to Information Network) who will be talking on media and the quest for peace and development.
 
PUP alumni and media practitioners Mr. John “Papa Jack” Gemperle (Love Radio), Ms. Maricel Halili (TV5), Ms. Irene Fernando (Manila Bulletin), Mr. Steve Dailisan (GMA 7), Mr. Zhander Cayabyab (DZMM), Mr. Jayvee Arcena (TV5), Mr. Gerard Garcia (TV5), and Mr. Angelito Bautista Jr. (PIA) will serve as forum moderators.
 
The 1st Young Communicators’ Congress – a brainchild of Dr. Angelina Enriquez Borican, former PUP College of Communication dean and Dr. Anna Ruby Peña Gapasin, former PUP Broadcast Communication chair – was held in September 2011. A total of 1,500 participants attended the event. This year’s Congress is chaired by Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, University Research Director and Chair of PUP Broadcast Communication. Prof. Kriztine R.
