PSE cites 2014 Bell Awardees


The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) awarded six trading participants and five listed companies for their excellence in corporate governance at the 2014 PSE Bell Awards ceremony held on November 10, 2014 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

The awardees in the large trading participants category were Deutsche Regis Partners, Inc., First Metro Securities Brokerage Corporation, and Maybank ATR Kim Eng Securities, Inc. while the recipients of the Bell Awards in the small trading participants division were I. B. Gimenez Securities, Inc., JSG Securities, Inc., and R. S. Lim and Company Inc. The listed companies that received the Bell Awards were Aboitiz Power Corporation, Ayala Land, Cebu Holdings, Inc., China Banking Corporation, and Manila Water Corporation.
 
In his opening remarks during the awarding ceremony, PSE Chairman Jose T. Pardo said, “It is the hard work of everyone on the corporate governance front that have attracted many investors to start investing or expanding their exposure in our market.”
 
Aside from the winners, finalists in both the trading participants and listed companies categories were also recognized. Outside of the Awardees, the finalists in the trading participants category were Credit Suisse Securities (Philippines), Inc., Macquarie Capital Securities (Philippines), Inc., and UBS Securities Philippines, Inc. Meanwhile, the finalists in the listed companies category were Aboitiz Equity Ventures, BDO Unibank, Inc., Globe Telecom, Inc., Philippine Savings Bank, and San Miguel Purefoods Company, Inc. 
 
As in the previous Bell Awards, an independent group was formed to evaluate the corporate governance practices of the listed companies and trading participants. The 2014 PSE Bell Awards Panel of Judges was headed by Securities and Exchange Commission Chairperson Teresita Herbosa. Comprising the panel were British Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines Asif Ahmad, Capital Markets Integrity Corporation President Cornelio Gison, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde President and Chancellor Brother Dennis Magbanua, FSC, and Representative Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo of the 3rd District of Camarines Sur.
