GMA’s Lenten Special presents Power to Unite with Elvira

In observance of the Holy Week, GMA Network provides viewers a special Lenten programming which includes Power to Unite with Elvira, an internationally-acclaimed religious program hosted by Papal Pro Ecclesia awardee Elvira Yap Go.

Airing this Good Friday, Go had an exclusive interview with His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the 32nd Archbishop of Manila and the President of Caritas Internationalis. Tagle mainly discussed the role of Caritas and their humanitarian works in the recent years. “Externally, parang ang ginagawa ng Caritas, pareho lang sa ginagawa nung ibang agencies. Pero ang hidden motivation ay gusto natin ipakita ang mukha ng ating Diyos. Siya ay pag-ibig,” he added.

Tagle further shared his experience during their relief operations in other disaster-stricken countries and refugee camps  in Nepal, Syria, Greece, and Egypt where he realized that people were grateful not because of the donations they received, but because of the love they felt from them.

Fittingly during this season of reflection, watching Cardinal Tagle’s emotional narration of his experiences will teach audiences humility and love for other people despite differences in politics, culture, and religion. This special episode of Power to Unite with Elvira manifested the importance of helping the unfortunate nourish not just their physical bodies, but more importantly their spirit.
