YouTube Philippines' most-watched videos for 2011
Adorable babies, talented performers and clever advertising topped the list of most-watched videos on video-sharing site YouTube for 2011.
YouTube Trends Manager Kevin Allocca said this was the highlight of YouTube's new Zeitgeist feature, which lists the most watched videos.
“The 10 most-watched YouTube videos of 2011 show that around the world, whatever language we speak, there are certain things that bring us all together around a computer screen or mobile phone — adorable babies, talented performers, and clever advertising,” Allocca said.
YouTube said Bruno Mars’ “Lazy Song” was the most-watched music video in the Philippines while the animated music video set to “Marry Your Daughter” was the most-watched YouTube community video.
On the other hand, homegrown band Sponge Cola’s song "Tambay" went viral, YouTube said.
"In a year when YouTube reached 48 hours of content uploaded every minute, YouTube viewers in the Philippines couldn’t get enough viral hits like the animated music video set to 'Marry Your Daughter' (written and performed by Brian McKnight's sons, BJ and Niko, of the band BRKN RBTZ); local band Sponge Cola’s 'Tambay'; and global smashes from Bruno Mars, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj," it said.
