Report: Google+ grew 27% in March with 61 million visits

Despite public perception that few people visit it, Google's social network Google+ grew 27 percent in March with 61 million visits, tech site Mashable reported.   Mashable cited figures from measurement service Experian Hitwise showing "relatively steady growth" for Google+ in terms of monthly visits since June 2011.   "The data comes after Google CEO Larry Page claimed in a state-of-Google blog post on Thursday that Google+ now has 100 million active users, 10 million more than the figure he shared with analysts in January," the site wrote.   Page had claimed that Google+ not only had more than 100 million "active" users, but that it also boasted of 120 Google+ integrations.   He also said Gmail, the search giant's email service, now had 350 million users.   Video sharing site YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006, now has 800 million monthly users uploading over an hour of video per second, he added.   But Mashable noted Page did not elaborate on how he defined an “active user.”   It noted data from comScore showing users spent just 3.3 minutes on Google+ in January compared to 7.5 hours for Facebook. In fact, the time users spent on Google+ seemed to be trending down, from 5.1 minutes in November of last year, and 4.8 minutes in December.   Google however, contested that finding, and claimed “50 million users access 'Google+-enhanced' products daily and that 100 million do so once per month.”   However, as Mashable pointed out, “'Google+-enhanced' includes YouTube, Google Play and the company’s homepage," which could skew the findings.  – AMD, GMA News
