Google: More Pinoys were keen on Heat in NBA finals

More Filipino basketball fans are rooting for the Miami Heat than the Oklahoma City Thunder in the ongoing best-of-seven Finals in the National Basketball Association, search giant Google said Wednesday.

Google said its Insights for Search showed not only the NBA Finals getting Filipinos' attention, but also more cheering on the Heat over the Thunder.

Its Insights for Search also showed more Filipinos are interested in the Heat than the Thunder.

Filipinos' interest in the two teams' matchup also appeared to peak last June 15, go down slightly last Saturday, then pick up again and peak last Monday.

On the other hand, Google noted the Philippines' interest in the ongoing Finals was second worldwide, with only the United States topping the list.

The other countries in the list as far as regional interest is concerned included Canada, Australia, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Mexico, India, Italy and Spain.

Google said the top search results in the last seven days include "thunder heat," "heat," "thunder oklahoma," "okc thunder," "oklahoma," "okc," "city thunder," "thunder vs heat," "oklahoma city," and "oklahoma city thunder."

Rising searches include "thunder game 3," "heat thunder game," "heat," "thunder vs heat," "thunder heat," "thunder score," "thunder vs miami," "miami oklahoma," "miami," and "thunder game."

"The blue line represents how Thunder is doing in terms of being searched online while the red line pertains to that of Heat. Clearly it may appear that Heat has more fans than Thunder but the coveted NBA championship title lies only between the two teams alone that are both willing to fight until the end," Google noted.

On the nationwide level, meanwhile, Google noted Cebu's netizens beat their Manila counterparts in terms of online searches on Google.com.ph for related information and updates on the NBA Finals games. — TJD, GMA News
