Japanese man auctions off Planet Earth

Interested online bidders will have until Tuesday night to avail of this very ... interesting item.

A Japanese man is gunning for a first by selling the entire Planet Earth for Y69 (P35.46) on online auction site Yahoo Auctions, according to a report on RocketNews24.com.

"According to the product description, the Earth was bestowed upon the seller by God, who appeared to him in his dream. And so, with times being tight, he immediately opted to sell," the report said.

Lest you think no one is taking him seriously, the bids have zoomed to ¥9,889,899,888 (P5,083,774,807), according to a report on OddityCentral.com.

However, the seller stipulated each bid must be accompanied by a message indicating the bidder's "serious intention" to buy the Earth, the report said.

If there are too many "prank" bids, he threataened to close the auction and reset it at Y69.

The seller even has a Question-and-Answer part where the seller fields questions on whether the winning bidder would become a god, or selling off Cuba as a special package item.

Anyone interested to bid, however, will have until 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, November 6.

"It’s pretty exciting to see who will get ownership of the Earth and what that will mean for those of us living on it," RocketNews24.com said. — TJD, GMA News
