Mikey Bustos' new video mashes up Gangnam style and tinikling

Gangnam style meets tinikling, with a dash of Amalayer. You gotta expect Mikey Bustos to concoct such a wacky combination, while staying true to his trademark celebration of Pinoy quirkiness. If the original Gangnam Style was a parody of Korean sosy problems by K-pop star Psy, then Bustos' YouTube video “Opo Pinoy Style" released Saturday night was a parody of a parody. It shows the barong-clad Fil-Canadian comedian horse-dancing to the original tune around Luneta, on top of a jeepney, and other places familiar to any balut-loving compatriot, while singing lines like, "Blessing to the elderly, I mano to the lola; but now my forehead smells like ginger because she cook tinola." At one point, he along with Filipiniana-garbed youths are dancing gangnam style between bamboo poles being slapped together on the floor, a rollicking cultural mash-up.  

Bustos has been entertaining audiences in the Philippines since he was a finalist in Canadian Idol in 2003. But he became a fixture on TV only after his hilarious home-made YouTube tutorials about everything Pinoy became an Internet hit. His “Opo Pinoy Style" video shows how far he has come. No longer a one-man production done at home, this one obviously has financial backing and has a cast of a dozen or so, including a cameo by Amalayer, the student who became famous after being filmed scolding a train station security guard ("Are you telling me amalayer?"). “Opo Pinoy Style” garnered 43,000 views on YouTube in the first 24 hours after it was launched. The hashtag #Opo and #OpoPinoyStyle also trended on Twitter locally.
