IKEA develops wireless 'bookbook' with eternal battery life

iBook, meet the bookbook.

 

Spiffy Swedish home furniture maker IKEA took a page from Apple with its 2015 product catalog—which boasts "eternal" battery life, an "expandable" interface, and intuitive lagless "touch and grab" browsing.

 

 

According to IKEA, its bookbook requires no cable or recharging, but has an expandable display, and is activated by touch.

 

"It's not a digital book or an ebook, it's a bookbook," chief design guru Jorgen Eghammer said in the video (Experience the power of a bookbook™).

 

He said the catalog comes preloaded with 328 high-definition pages of products for 2015.

 

"At only 8 mm thin, and weighing in at less than 400g, the 2015 IKEA Catalogue comes pre-installed with thousands of home furnishing ideas," IKEA said.
