Mishka the Talking Husky has died at 14 years old

Mishka the Talking Husky, who rose to internet fame for her loveable ability to say “I love you,” has died. She was 14 years old.

The announcement was made on her official Facebook Page on April 5, 2017.

“I'm sad to say that Mishka has passed on,” stated owner Matt Gardea in a Facebook post. “She stayed strong until the end and went peacefully. We will miss her terribly but know in our hearts that it was her time to go.”

Mishka, which means “Teddy Bear” in Russian, was a Siberian Husky. She was born on June 16, 2002. With the Siberian Husky’s maximum lifespan ranging from 12 to 15 years, Mishka lived a long life — and one that was surrounded with love.

As Gardea stated, Mishka was a “true celebrity in every sense; appearing on multiple TV Talk Shows, partnered with a movie studio, was featured in Hollywood movies, and even starred in commercials.”

Her most famous video, which was uploaded more than 9 years ago on February 7, 2008, has been viewed over 101 million times. In it, we see Mishka vocalizing, and sounding very much like she’s saying “I love you.”

Another popular video, in which Mishka says an emphatic “Nooooo!” when asked if she’s stupid, has earned a whopping 31 million views.

Gardea’s YouTube channel has over 850 thousand subscribers. It features Mishka and other dogs, and boasts over 700 videos which have garnered more than 506 million views. The Mishka the Talking Husky Facebook Page is followed by more than 1 million netizens.

Below is Gardea’s last YouTube video prior to the announcement of Mishka’s death.

It was discovered in February that Mishka had a cancerous mast cell tumor, which caused her a lot of pain. Though her owners ensured she received veterinary care, her health steadily dwindled, to the sorrow of her millions of admirers. Both the YouTube channel and Facebook Page went silent in March as the family pondered what the best course of action was for the beloved pooch.

Mishka leaves behind her loving owners, and her sister Laika the Talking Husky.
