People flock to sample Japanese omelette by ‘Kuya Omu-rice’

Who knew that eggs and rice in a carton would prove to be a popular meal for people on the go? Japanese student Kuya Sawa has found online fame for the simple dish, which has also become his namesake.

The page "Kuya Omu-rice" has attracted over 77,000 followers as of writing on Facebook. Offline, his goods regularly get sold out.

"Hi! I am Kuya, Omurice cooker, selling Japanese Omurice Roll on the street all over Manila. I wanna let you know how good Omurice is and believe Omurice can change the world," his introduction on Facebook reads.

A report by GMA News' Saksi on Tuesday shows Kuya Omu-rice's simple setup. He announces his location on Facebook and he stands there with a cooler for the omurice.

According to one customer, she came to check Kuya Omu-rice out after being tagged by a friend on Facebook.

"Kasi Japanese siya so more on iniisip nating authentic omurice," another customer said.

Aside from introducing omurice to the world, Kuya Sawa also wants to help street children here in Manila...perhaps by feeding them omurice, too. — AT, GMA News
