Grade 5 pupil asks for cleaning job to pay for class contribution

A Grade Five pupil's bid for employment in General Santos City is one of the latest feel-good stories that have gone viral on social media.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," Kervy James Villarejo of Jose Catolico Sr. Elementary School went to an office in the city to ask that he be employed as a cleaner so he could pay a homeroom contribution in school.

The child's application process on Friday was captured on video Chriszel Singco Vicente and the post has gone viral with more than 1.2 million views.

The office employees no longer had Villarejo clean the office but they gave him P200, more than enough for him to pay the class contribution on Monday. He also bought rice for the family with the excess funds.

Villarejo is the eldest of four siblings.

With money hard to come by for his parents, he is being taken care of by an aunt. —NB, GMA News
