Bong Go 'surprised, flattered' as selfies trend on FB

Special Assistant to the President Secretary Bong Go is surprised that his selfies with world leaders on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit have trended on social media.

In a text message to reporters, Go said he did not expect that his snaps would be popular, even spawning memes on Facebook.

"I was pleasantly surprised and flattered when I was informed that my selfies with world leaders during the ASEAN Summit caught FB's attention. I didn't expect my taking selfies with them would create such a reaction," he said.

"I am just an ordinary employee of the government. I took selfies with world leaders because I admire them and only as remembrance of that once in a lifetime opportunity," he added.

Go, in fact, created a Facebook album dedicated to his selfies during the recently-concluded ASEAN summit. Aside from his own selfies, the album also included photos of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull take their own selfies with Go.

Go also took selfies with leaders "photobombing" him during President Rodrigo Duterte's attendance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Da Nang, Vietnam.
