AlDub earns 2 million tweets on 3rd anniversary

AlDub celebrated its third anniversary on Monday, with Alden and Joey de Leon posting on Instagram to celebrate the occasion.

Twitter Philippines reports there were nearly 2 million related tweets, with the #AlDub3Years conversation peaking at around 11am on Monday, July 16, with 150,000 tweets per minute. Insane.

Twitter played a huge role in driving AlDub’s popularity worldwide. Fans took to the social media channel to express their thoughts, kilig, and admiration, making AlDub viral every single day.

They even made it to the Guiness World Book of Records; AlDubEBTamangPanahon set the record as the most used hashtag generation more than 40 million tweets in 24 hours. It broke previous records held by World Cup 2014 match of Germany and Brazil.

Alden and Maine are avid Twitter users, with the two accumulating more than 9.8 million followers.
