Nickelodeon invites SpongeBob fans to join short film contest

Nickelodeon announced Tuesday the first global SpongeBob SquarePants-inspired short film competition, SpongeBob SquareShorts: Original Fan Tributes. SpongeBob fans and filmmakers from around the world are invited to create and submit original short films about any and all things SpongeBob. The short films can be live-action, animation, stop-motion, etc. and should not be more than three minutes long. Entries can be submitted in two categories—under 18 years of age, and 18 and over—to www.SpongeBobSquareShorts.com. The deadline for submission is on June 28. A panel of judges will select 10 finalists for each category. The finalists will be announced on July 18. And from July 18 through August 2, fans can vote for their favorite shorts at the site. The winner from each category will be announced in August.   A cash prize and a trip for four to a screening event in Hollywood await the winners. More details on the submission process and official rules can be found on SpongeBobSquareShorts.com. — BM, GMA News
