#OneVibePH concert set to usher in Independence Day on June 11

Looking to celebrate Independence Day with a bang—possibly with good company, great food, and even better music? The #OneVibePH concert on June 11 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds in Pasay has all that and more covered.

Hosted by Viber Philippines, the concert will be headlined—for the first time ever—by the Black Eyed Peas' apl.de.ap and local DJs Laidback Luke, Avy, Mars Miranda, and Motherbass. They will be joined by foreign DJs HardRock Sofa and Infected Mushroom. It will be the first time these DJs will collaborate together, as well.

The event, which Viber is throwing in celebration of 13 million downloads this month, also brings together for the first time Manila's 12 premier dance clubs.

“For the Independence Day of the Philippines, we decided to get everyone together to work together,” said Viber country manager Crystal Lee at the #OneViberEvent press conference at Bonifacio Global City on Tuesday. “Which I believe is something very Filipino...people really want to get together.”

“We wanted to bring both the music culture and the Filipino culture together,” she added.

“It's kind of a social experiment on Viber's part,” said Driven Manila's Domini Primero. “All the establishments—all the movers and shakers of Manila nightlife—will be closed, and there will be nowhere else to go on that day.”

“Strategic kasi walang pasok the next day,” he added.

The clubs are Aracama, Dillingers, The Distillery, Haze, Hyve, Imperial, Prive, Prohibition, Republiq, Skye, Time, and UrBn.

Freebies and heady discounts galore

Viber users attending the event can expect freebies and discounts off the bat—starting with the transportation. Users are urged to use the free, contracted events buses arriving at the different pickup points of SM North EDSA, Makati, and Ortigas.

“Sa bus pa lang, party na 'yon,” said Eventscape's Stephen Ku.

Meanwhile, showing a GrabTaxi vehicle that you are a Viber user slashes the transportation fee by P150.

Tickets, which cost P1,000 (Patron), will be down to P500 for subscribers and students.

During the event itself—which will open at 4 p.m.—attendees can also expect to welcome Independence Day with “piso beer and food” from 12 m.n. to 1 a.m. The minimum age for attendance is 16, though concert-goers will only be served alcohol if they have alcohol straps.

There will also be a raffle, though it was still up in the air as to whether sponsor Air Asia would be giving away barkada trips to any of their destinations.

Lee said she didn't want to spoil the surprises too much but to trust that the activities will include a bouncy foam castle, a ball pool, huge jackstones, and sipa.

“We're trying to tap into and balance targeting the youths and families,” said Lee. “There will also be events designed to draw you closer to your barkada and your family.”

Meanwhile, Primero assured that they all have done everything they can to follow the safety rules set down by the local government of Pasay. Police and several ambulances will be on standby, while three different groups of bouncers will be roaming the concert grounds.

For his last words, Ku reminded all subscribers to, “Come early, dress appropriately, drink moderately, and have fun!” — BM, GMA News
