Not many people are able to inspire a luxury brand, but it should come as no surprise that international star Lea Salonga is one of them.

Last week, Salonga graced an event held by accessories maker Philip Stein launching a limited edition of watches inspired by the award-winning actress and singer.

CEO and co-founder Will Stein said that the company shares similar values with the Filipino star of "passion, excellence, and purpose."

He added that he and his wife met Salonga in Switzerland some months earlier.

"I met Lea Salonga last year in October. Rina and I had the honor and pleasure to spend a day with her and her husband. It was a beautiful sunny day in Zurich, which we spent half by the lake and half in our office," he said.

"Talking about frequency, I think we all were tuned in to the same frequency. It was such a natural and easy bond between us. I think this is reflected in the collaborative work between us and Lea."

The highlight of the night was Salonga herself, who performed songs such as "When You Believe" and "Go The Distance" accompanied by musicians led by her brother, musical director Gerard Salonga.

As a nod to Salonga's date of birth (February 22), only 222 pieces of the watch she inspired have been manufactured, making them almost as rare as Salonga's talent. — BM, GMA News
