Family beams with pride as 65-year-old grandma gets senior high diploma

After spending most of her life raising a family with her husband, 65-year-old Teresita Andanar Dionglay on Friday fulfilled her dream of earning her senior high school diploma.

She even did it in style as she graduated second honorable mention from the La Salle Greenhills Adult Night Program.

Dionglay also received special awards, Jamie Santos reported on "24 Oras."

Basta desire mo talagang maakapagtapos, walang mahirap," Dionglay said.

"Organize talaga dapat yung time para mabigyan ng panahon ang pag-aaral. Kasi wala naman matanda sa pag-aaral," she added.

Dionglay was orphaned early and married at age 19.

Studying had to take a backseat as she and her husband focused on raising their children and making sure they had an education.

With the help of her children who have earned their respective degrees, Dionglay went back to school.

They were proud of her.

"All out support kami kay nanay kasi pinag-aral niya kami. Nag-sakripisyo siya. Ngayon naman, dahil desire niya makatapos, sinuportahan namin siya," said son Christian.

A grandchild was expectedly inspired.

"Na-inspire po ako sa lola ko na mag-aral po at tapusin po ang pag-aaral," Hanna said. —NB, GMA News
