What does it take to win the Miss World crown? Megan, former queens weigh in

The search is on for the Filipina who will represent the country in one of the most prestigious pageants in the world.

During the launch of Miss World Philippines 2017 on Friday, the beauty queens who have had the privilege to wear the crown shared the qualities that sets someone apart during the competition. After all, Miss World isn't just about beauty — it's beauty with a purpose and beauty in giving.

For reigning queen Catriona Gray, it's more than the drive. Every girl in the competition is passionate, but what she's looking for is someone who understands the responsibility of the crown.

Miss World 2013 Megan Young concurred, sharing "I want someone who wants to do a good job, to outdo the job we've already done."

She further said that the next winner should be an overachiever and should exhibit the same kind of spunk that she and the other queens have.

Miss World Philippines 2015 Hillarie Parungao said that she is looking for someone "who can fulfill the duty sincerely" and stressed the importance of being genuine while wearing the crown.

"Well-rounded," Miss World Philippines 2011 Gwendoline Ruais added, while Miss World Philippines 2011 Queneerich Rehman said "intelligence and drive."

The Miss World Philippines 2017 coronation night is scheduled for September 3, and the Miss World 2017 will be held in China on November 18 — leaving the winner with only two months to prepare.

Young and Ruais shared that this shouldn't be a cause for concern, as they both had only two weeks to prepare. Ruais went on to placed first runner up and Young won the crown.
