Katarina Rodriguez answers: Why should you be the next Miss World?

Miss World Philippines 2018 Katarina Rodriguez is ready to face her destiny. On Friday, the beauty queen met with her pageant sisters and members of the press for an intimate send-off. 

Katarina will soon be flying to China in a bid to bring home the elusive blue crown. 

The pageant typically peaks with candidates making a case for themselves as they are asked, "Why should you be the next Miss World?"

Here's Katarina's answer:

I would have to say that I should be the next Miss World because I know my potentials and I know the potentials of my country and the Filipinos. 

I think right now we need somebody who is optimistic, who understands that impossibilities... that's just a word. And with that said, this world now and with everything going on, it needs that little bit of sunshine, if you will. I think I can be that. Thank you.

In 2013, Kapuso star Megan Young made history as the first Filipino woman to be crowned Miss World. Will Katarina be our second?
