Bride in Cebu gets vaxxed right after wedding

A bride, still wearing her wedding gown, kept her appointment for the administration of her second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at a Rural Health Unit in the town of Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island, Cebu province.

According to the report on "Saksi" on Monday, Marlyn Ilustrisimo was scheduled to get married on the same day that she was to complete her vaccination.

She did not postpone her appointment but proceeded to the vaccination site right after she got married and while still wearing her beautiful wedding gown.

"Beside the vaccination post po namin, nandoon 'yong simbahan nila tapos after ng kasal niya, dumeretso talaga siya tapos lahat kami talagang na-shock kasi naka-gown pa siya," Gemma Sanchez, an assistant in the vaccination site, said in Dano Tingcungco's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday.

Ilustrisimo said in an interview that she did not miss her vaccination appointment as she was thinking about her health and that of her family.

She added that their house was far from the vaccination site so it was convenient for her to get her jab right there and then.

"Gusto ko na pong matapos na kasi naka-schedule na eh para wala nang problema, fully vaccinated na," she said.

Her groom was also present during her second dose vaccination.

Health workers in the vaccination site lauded Carabio for making time for her vaccination despite her big day.

"Sana maging inspiration 'yong story ng bride na magpabakuna na sila kasi only vaccine works or makakatulong talaga sa pag-end ng pandemiya," Joan Bautro, one of the nurses, said.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Tuesday said 24,298,753 Filipinos have received full doses of COVID-19 vaccines, which is 31.76% of the country's eligible population.  with Ma. Angelica Garcia/BAP/KG/BM, GMA News
