Walk for at least 30 minutes a day to improve memory

Starting to feel forgetful? Walk it off!

An "Unang Balita" report on Tuesday highlighted the link found between memory problems and lack of exercise.

Physician - Acupuncturist Dr. Alfonso Lagaya explained in the interview that, like any other organ, our brain benefits from a healthy circulatory system.

"You need to be pumping the circulation of your blood from the heart to reach your brain. Paano makakarating 'yan kung kakaunti lang ang pumping ng puso mo?"

It takes as little as 30 minutes of non-stop walking a day to give our brains that boost it needs to function optimally. Walking encourages the production of nitric oxide, which "open up our blood vessels all over the body," Lagaya said.

Mixing fun and fitness, mental functions can also be boosted by vigorous aerobic activity — in other words, dancing. Go get your groove on and stay alert! — AT, GMA News
