Man dies in bar brawl, 9 arrested

Nine suspects have been arrested over the death of a construction worker who was reportedly stabbed in a bar brawl in San Pablo City, Laguna.

According to a report on "24 Oras" by Emil Sumangil on Thursday, the fight took place in the videoke and billiards bar on November 9 at around 11:35 p.m.

The victim was identified as Maco Baltazar Boco, 35, who reportedly got upset about a bar girl serving suspects.  As Boco returned to his table from the comfort room, he figured in an altercation with the group.

CCTV footage from different angles showed Boco going up the nine men, who later left him lying on the floor and fled the scene on a white van.

"Nagkaroon po ng sugat ang biktima at mga suspek. Nang  ito (the victim) ay nanggaling sa CR, dumaan siya sa grupo ng mga nag-iinuman, at mula noon nauwi sa sagutan at saksakan ang pangyayari," Police Superintendent Eliseo Bernales, chief of San Pablo City police, told GMA News.   

With the vehicle's plate number, police said they were able to arrest all nine suspects.

The police have not named the suspects who now face charges for the crime of death caused in a tumultuous affray under the Revised Penal Code. —Margaret Claire Layug/ LDF, GMA News
