Cebu Pacific lowers fuel surcharge, fares

Cebu Pacific Air, owner-operator of flag-carrier CEB, has lowered its fuel surcharge by 20 percent the result of which has also brought down its domestic and international airfares, the airline said Monday.   Surcharges on fuel, a major cost component of airlines, are charged on top of airfares to help airlines cope with the rising cost of jet fuel.   “We are committed to offering the public the lowest all-in fares in all the routes we operate. Now, CEB’s all-in lowest fares will be even more affordable to business and leisure travelers in the Philippines,” Candice Iyog, CEB vice president for marketing and distribution, said in a statement.   All-in domestic fares cover fuel surcharge, administration fee, aviation security fee, 12-percent VAT and 7 kg hand-carried baggage allowance, excluding checked-in baggage.   CEB also announced that it is offering a seat sale from Monday to June 27, or until seat reservations last. The discounted rates cover domestic travel from Aug. 25 to Oct. 21 this year.   It is also offering a seat sale for international flights for the travels between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31. —MJC/VS, GMA News
